Position Summary
The Bartender is responsible for creating high-quality beverages, delivering exceptional guest interaction, and maintaining a polished and efficient bar. This role requires strong cocktail technique, professionalism, and the ability to work in a fast-paced fine-dining environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about spirits—especially Japanese whisky and sake—and enjoys delivering memorable bar experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Crafting & Service Excellence
- Prepare cocktails, mocktails, and specialty beverages according to Suzu’s standards
- Execute Japanese-inspired drinks using premium ingredients and refined techniques
- Provide warm, professional, and knowledgeable service at the bar and in the dining room
- Make beverage recommendations, including sake, wine, and Japanese whisky
Bar Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service
- Prepare juices, syrups, infusions, and garnishes following recipes
- Ensure consistency, balance, and presentation of every drink
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving products
Guest Experience
- Build rapport with guests while maintaining a refined and professional demeanor
- Anticipate guest needs and deliver discreet, attentive service
- Address concerns or requests courteously and promptly
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Bar Manager, servers, and barbacks to support smooth operations
- Communicate efficiently during high-volume periods
- Assist in training staff on beverage knowledge and service when needed
Cleanliness & Compliance
- Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and safety regulations
- Maintain bar tools, glassware, and equipment to fine-dining standards
- Ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with state laws
Qualifications
- 2–4+ years of bartending experience (fine dining or upscale cocktail bar preferred)
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, mixology, and bar fundamentals
- Familiarity with Japanese spirits, sake, or whisky is preferred (training provided)
- TIPS or ServSafe Certificate
- Excellent communication skills and a polished hospitality presence
- Ability to multitask and stay composed during busy services
- Professional appearance and commitment to high standards
